How Much Does a Custom Website Cost in India? (2026 Pricing Guide)
By EcomWeb Team · 18 Jun 2026 · 7 min read
Search "custom website development cost India" and almost every result routes to the same place: a contact form. Not a number, not a range — a form, asking for your email before you can find out if the answer is ₹10,000 or ₹10,00,000. That's not a pricing strategy, it's a lead-capture strategy, and it wastes a genuine buyer's time. Here's an actual answer, with real numbers.
Why most agencies hide their pricing
There are a few honest reasons a "custom" quote is hard to pin down — scope really can vary by an order of magnitude between a landing page and a bespoke web app. But there's a less honest reason too: a published number lets a prospect walk away before a sales call happens, and a lot of agencies would rather get you on a call first. If your business fits a recognizable shape — a brochure site, a small business site with a blog, a larger site with custom integrations — a real range should be publishable, not hidden behind a form.
What a hand-coded custom website actually costs
These are real, published tiers — not "starting from" teasers that balloon the moment you ask a follow-up question.
Basic — ₹5,000
A hand-coded 3-page site (Home / About / Contact), fully responsive, with a working contact form and basic on-page SEO, hosted free on Vercel or Netlify's free tier. Delivery in 5–7 days. Content edits go through a developer rather than a self-serve admin panel — that trade-off is what keeps this tier at ₹5,000 instead of ₹15,000+.
Standard — ₹15,000
Up to 7 custom pages, bespoke design tailored to your brand (not a template), a blog with a simple custom admin panel so you can publish without a developer, on-page SEO plus Search Console setup, and social + Google Maps integration. 10–14 day delivery, 3 revisions, 30-day post-launch support.
Premium — ₹35,000
Unlimited pages, a full lightweight custom admin panel, advanced SEO with schema markup, GA4 and Search Console wired in, multilingual-ready architecture, and custom integrations (CRM, email, and similar). 21-day delivery, unlimited revisions, 90-day post-launch support.
What actually moves the price
- Page count and content volume — more pages means more design and copy-fitting work, even before any custom functionality
- Whether you need a custom admin panel, or are fine with developer-managed edits
- Custom integrations — a CRM, a booking system, a payment gateway on a non-e-commerce site — each adds scoped engineering time
- Multilingual requirements, since content and routing both need to support it structurally, not just via a translation plugin
- Design complexity — a from-scratch bespoke visual identity takes longer than working within an established brand system
Why hand-coded costs more upfront than WordPress — and less over time
A WordPress site with a purchased theme can look cheaper on day one — a theme license might run ₹3,000–₹8,000, plus a few hours of setup. What that comparison leaves out: hosting that can handle a plugin-heavy WordPress install, a security plugin subscription, theme and plugin update maintenance, and the recurring risk that an update breaks something right before it matters. A hand-coded static site has none of that recurring surface area — no plugins to update, no database to secure, no theme license to renew. The higher day-one number buys lower total cost of ownership, not just a nicer badge to put on the site.
A quick way to estimate your own tier
If your business needs a straightforward web presence — who you are, what you do, how to reach you — the Basic tier covers it. If you want to publish your own blog posts and update pages without calling a developer every time, Standard is the realistic floor. If you need multiple integrations, multilingual support, or a page count in the double digits, Premium is where the scope actually lives — and an Enterprise conversation makes sense once you're looking at a genuinely custom web application rather than a marketing site.
What changed with the international pricing
Since this guide first went up, the same three tiers became available in USD too — $150, $450, and $1,050 for Basic, Standard, and Premium, for clients outside India. It's not a straight currency conversion; ₹5,000 at market exchange rates is closer to $60 than $150. The USD number reflects what the same scope of work is worth priced for an international market, the same way a domestic agency prices differently for a client at home than for one abroad.
A worked example: two businesses, two tiers
Take two real shapes of business that come through the contact form. A physiotherapy clinic wants a 3-page site — who they are, what they treat, how to book — plus a contact form. That's Basic, ₹5,000, live in a week. A regional retail chain with four locations wants a blog for promotions, a way to update store hours without calling a developer every time, and Google Maps embedded per location. That's Standard territory, ₹15,000, because the custom admin panel and the multi-location content are real scope, not padding. Neither needed Premium's unlimited pages or multilingual architecture — matching the tier to the actual need, not the biggest number, is most of what a real scoping call does.
Why we don't do "starting from" pricing
"Starting from ₹5,000" would technically be true and still misleading, since it implies ₹5,000 might cover a 7-page site with a blog if you're lucky. It won't — that's Standard, ₹15,000, a different scope entirely. Every tier here lists exactly what's included: page count, admin access, revisions, delivery window, support window. If your project matches a tier's scope, that tier's number is the number, not a floor that moves once you're on a call. The only time a quote goes outside these four numbers is Enterprise, and even that gets a written scope before any commitment.
When you're past the tiers entirely
Enterprise conversations start once a request isn't really a website anymore — headless commerce architecture, AI/ML models trained specifically on your data, multi-region deployment with its own SLA. That work is scoped individually rather than tiered, starting around ₹7,50,000, because at that point the variables — team size, infrastructure, ongoing model training — genuinely don't compress into a fixed menu the way a 3-page brochure site does. If your project sounds like this, the free discovery call still applies; you just get a custom scope document instead of a tier name.
What a written quote actually looks like
Every project starts with a free 30-minute discovery call, then a written quote within 48 hours — a real document listing scope, timeline, and price, not a verbal number that shifts once work starts. If the scope changes mid-project — a client adds three pages after signing off on a 3-page brief, say — that's a change order with its own line item, agreed before the extra work happens, not a surprise on the final invoice.
